TNI Cyber Unit Opens Soldier Recruitment, Training Only One Month

The Indonesian Armed Forces’ Cyber Unit (Satsiber TNI) is opening recruitment for soldiers ranging from officers to non-commissioned officers. In 2025, the total recruitment is for 50 personnel.

“(This year’s quota) is still being formulated by Spers TNI,” said Head of Satsiber TNI Brigadier General Juinta Omboh (JO) Sembiring at the Ahmad Yani Sports Hall, TNI Headquarters, Cilangkap, East Jakarta, on Monday (24/8/2026).

According to him, the Satsiber TNI team has already identified a number of universities with potential recruits. Both master’s and bachelor’s degree students, as well as vocational high school (SMK) students, can join as Satsiber TNI soldiers.

“Then we check what abilities they have, what certifications they hold. After certification, what their portfolio is, whether they have work experience. We select and check everything. Spotting, after that we have staged selection processes covering both academic ability and skills,” said Sembiring.

According to him, bachelor’s and master’s degree recruits will receive the rank of Second Lieutenant (Letda) upon completing their education. They will undergo training similar to the Cyber Career Officer (Pa PK Siber) programme. Meanwhile, vocational high school graduates who pass recruitment will hold the rank of Second Sergeant (Serda). Sembiring confirmed that Satsiber TNI personnel training is shorter than regular soldier training.

“Yes, like last year, they were only trained for one month. But it will continue to be evaluated by Spers regarding the training. What is certain is that we must detect their mental ideology, their fighting spirit, which must be strong, including their psychology. This is perhaps the main requirement, aside from the technical abilities mentioned earlier,” said Sembiring.

He continued that when the recruitment process opens, his staff will distribute invitations to various communities and universities. Last year, Satsiber TNI screened around 2,000 applicants for a quota of 50 soldiers.

“We will conduct an assessment first. Those who enter the assessment will follow the stages, and we will continue to evaluate. Later, except for those who win this competition, they can go directly to the centre,” said Sembiring. He added that winners of the Cyber Competition 2026 ‘Rise The Ranger II’ who are interested in joining the TNI can also be recruited.
