TNI Continues Peacekeeping Mission After Praka Farizal's Death in Lebanon

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) will continue to carry out the world peacekeeping mission through the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) under the United Nations (UN) mandate.

“TNI reaffirms its commitment to carrying out its duties as part of the world peacekeeping mission under the United Nations mandate in a professional and responsible manner,” said TNI’s Head of Information Centre, Major General TNI Aulia Dwi Nasrullah, in his statement on Monday (30/3/2026).

Nevertheless, this peacekeeping mission continues to prioritise the safety of the soldiers serving in the area.

“TNI is also continuously monitoring developments in the field and preparing contingency steps in accordance with the dynamics in the Lebanon Assignment Area,” he stressed.

It was previously reported that four Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) soldiers, who are part of the Indonesian Contingent Task Force (Konga) TNI in the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) mission, became victims of an Israeli attack on southern Lebanon on Sunday (29/3/2026).

Based on the latest information from TNI Headquarters (Mabes), they are Corporal (Praka) Rico Pramudia, Praka Bayu Prakoso, Praka Farizal Rhomadhon, and Praka Arif Kurniawan.

“Praka Farizal Rhomadhon was declared fallen, Praka Rico Pramudia suffered severe injuries, while Praka Bayu Prakoso and Praka Arif Kurniawan suffered minor injuries and are currently receiving medical treatment,” said TNI’s Head of Information Centre, Major General Aulia Dwi Nasrullah, to Kompas.com on Monday (30/3/2026).

Aulia revealed that the four victims are members of Company C United Nations Position (UNP) 7-1 from the Task Force (Satgas) Mechanised Battalion (Yonmek) XXIII-S, which is part of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL).

Meanwhile, the soldier with severe injuries was evacuated by helicopter to St. George Hospital in Beirut for further treatment.

“As for the fallen soldier, he is currently laid to rest at the East Sector Headquarters (HQ) and is in the process of administrative arrangements for repatriation to Indonesia with assistance from the Indonesian Embassy in Beirut,” he explained.
