TNI Confirms Soldier Killed in Lebanon: Praka Farizal Rhomadhon
The Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) has confirmed that one of its soldiers was killed while on duty in Lebanon due to an attack by Zionist Israeli forces on a UNIFIL peacekeeping outpost in Lebanon.
The Commander of the Kodim 0731/Kulon Progo (Dandim), Lieutenant Colonel Infantry Dyan Niti Sukma, confirmed that the fallen soldier was Private First Class Farizal Rhomadhon.
According to Dyan, Farizal was from the Yonif 113/JS of the Brigif 25/Siwah, Kodam Iskandar Muda, Aceh.
“(The late) was from Lendah, Kulon Progo,” said Dyan when contacted on Monday (30/3).
Dyan stated that Farizal’s body is still in Lebanon. He has not yet received the latest information regarding the repatriation of the body or the burial process.
“We have not received definite confirmation from the family, and the late’s body is still in Lebanon at this time,” he added.
“Because the late fell (while on duty), we will conduct a military funeral ceremony,” Dyan concluded.
Separately, Wakidi from Dukuh Ledok, Lendah, Kulon Progo, confirmed that the late was one of the residents in his community. The house of mourning is located at RT 17 Ledok, Lendah, Kulon Progo, DIY.
According to Wakidi, the late passed away leaving behind a wife and a toddler daughter.
“(The daughter) is approximately two years old,” said Wakidi when met at his residence.
Based on observations, a tent along with several chairs has been prepared at the mourning location. Several mourners have been seen arriving since morning approaching noon.
A wreath of condolences from the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, Anis Matta, was also visible.
The news of the TNI member’s death was previously confirmed by United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres. The attack by Israeli forces occurred near Adchit Al Qusayr.
In his official X social media account, Guterres expressed strong condemnation of the attack that killed one TNI personnel attached to UNIFIL.
“I strongly condemn the Sunday incident that killed an Indonesian peacekeeper from @UNIFIL_ amid hostilities between Israel & Hezbollah.
Another Indonesian peacekeeper was seriously injured in the same incident,” Guterres wrote.
“I extend my deepest condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of the deceased peacekeeper, as well as to Indonesia. I wish the injured peacekeeper a full and speedy recovery. This is just one of several recent incidents that have endangered the safety and security of peacekeepers,” he said.
