Medan (ANTARA) - The Military District (Kodim) 0208/Asahan has completed repairs to a pioneer bridge in Batu Bara Regency, North Sumatra, to restore inter-village road access in the region.

“The repairs were conducted to restore the connecting access between Kandangan Village in Laut Tador Subdistrict and Sei Suka Deras Village in Sei Suka Subdistrict in Batu Bara,” said the Commander of Regional Military Command I/Bukit Barisan, Colonel Asrul Kurniawan Harahap, during an address in Medan on Sunday.

Asrul stated that the bridge, measuring 67 metres in length and 1.6 metres in width, connects the inter-village area that had previously deteriorated due to age-related wear.

He further noted that the bridge repairs were carried out by personnel from the Village Guidance Section (Babinsa) of the Military Subdistrict Command (Koramil) 02/AP under Kodim 0208/Asahan, working collaboratively with residents of Kandangan Village.

“The collaboration between the TNI and residents focused on restoring the bridge’s structural integrity to ensure it is safe and fit for use as the main thoroughfare for community mobility,” he stated.

The commander reported that the work has reached 100 per cent completion and the pioneer bridge has been restored to full operational use by local residents.

“With the completion of these repairs, community activities are expected to return to normal and distribution of agricultural produce and essential goods for residents should flow more smoothly,” he said.

Asrul noted that TNI involvement in infrastructure repairs demonstrates genuine concern for the difficulties facing local residents.

“It also reflects our commitment to supporting accelerated development in the region, ensuring that the TNI’s presence is truly felt as beneficial by the public,” he concluded.
