Medan (ANTARA) - The 0209/Labuhanbatu Military District Command has completed the repair of the Garuda pioneer bridge in Rasau Village, Torgamba Subdistrict, South Labuhanbatu Regency, North Sumatra, to facilitate access for local residents.

“The bridge, spanning 101 metres with a width of 2.4 metres, has now been fully repaired,” said Colonel Inf Asrul Kurniawan Harahap, the Public Relations Chief of Kodam I/Bukit Barisan, in Medan on Thursday.

He stated that with the completion of the bridge repairs, the community can now use it effectively as the main access route to support their daily activities.

Previously, he added, the bridge had suffered damage, and the repairs included dismantling the floor plates, replacing the wire mesh on both sides, welding, and painting.

“The bridge repairs involved TNI personnel working alongside local residents, supported by materials such as paint, thinner, brushes, and wire mesh,” he said.

“The repairs to the bridge are expected to provide tangible benefits to the communities in the area,” he added.

With the repairs completed, he noted, access for residents has become safer and smoother, thereby supporting economic activities, education, and social engagements in the community.

He mentioned that local residents have welcomed the bridge repairs positively, allowing normal access to resume and daily activities to proceed smoothly.

“We will continue to be present to assist local governments and communities in accelerating infrastructure recovery, as a manifestation of the TNI’s service and unity with the people,” he said.
