Medan — The Kodim 0213/Nias military command, working with soldiers from Yon TP 903/Baluseda, has completed construction of an armco bridge in Tetehosi Maziaya Village, Sitolu Ori District, North Nias, North Sumatera, to improve public access in the region.

“The 10.5-metre bridge has now been completed and can be utilised by residents to support the smooth running of their daily activities,” said Colonel Asrul Kurniawan Harahap, Commander of Iskandar Muda Military Region (Kapendam I/BB), in Medan on Tuesday.

Asrul stated that the bridge construction is part of a broader development programme being implemented across six locations within the Kodim 0213/Nias jurisdiction.

He explained that the construction process was carried out in stages by personnel in the field, beginning with the assembly of steel pipes, construction of bridge supports, and the laying of concrete foundations. This was followed by the installation of the armco structure, backfilling and compacting earth and sand on the approach ramps, and final painting as the finishing stage.

The commander noted that during construction, Kodim 0213/Nias personnel and soldiers from Yon TP 903/Baluseda utilised various equipment including shovels, hoes, wheelbarrows, crowbars, mini-excavators, and other tools to support the efficiency and speed of the field work.

“The bridge construction is part of the Indonesian Army’s efforts to help address difficulties faced by communities in the region,” he said.

Asrul added that the armco bridge is expected to improve residents’ mobility and facilitate better access between neighbouring areas. “In this way, both social and economic activities in Tetehosi Maziaya Village and surrounding areas can proceed more smoothly,” he concluded.
