Medan (ANTARA) - The Disaster Response Task Force of Kodam I/Bukit Barisan has completed the construction of an Armco bridge in Tukka subdistrict, Central Tapanuli regency, North Sumatra, to facilitate access for residents in the area following the disaster. “The progress of the Armco bridge construction has reached 100 percent, including the embankment which has also been fully completed,” said Kapendam I/BB Colonel Inf Asrul Kurniawan Harahap in Medan on Wednesday. He stated that the bridge access is now passable by two-wheeled and four-wheeled vehicles following the flash floods in the region. He mentioned that a concrete bridge had previously been built at the site, but it suffered severe damage due to the flash floods that struck the area. Subsequently, reconstruction was carried out by a combined team from Kodim 0211/TT, Yon TP 908/GD, and Denzibang 4/1 Sibolga, working integrally in the field. “In its implementation, the construction was supported by the use of various equipment such as excavators, wheelbarrows, hoes, shovels, buckets, cement spoons, and other auxiliary tools to accelerate the work process,” he said. “This was followed by the assembly of Armco plates and the installation of structures on the foundation,” he added. Next, the bridge box was cast, the railings and bridge box were painted, the box and handrails were plastered, and the embankment and bridge body were tidied up as the final stage of construction refinement. “The acceleration of the bridge reconstruction was carried out in response to the flood damage, so that community access can be restored as soon as possible,” he said. He added that with the completion of the bridge and its accessibility by vehicles, it is hoped that residents’ mobility will return to normal and community economic activities can proceed smoothly.
