TNI Commander Sends Off 744 Garuda Contingent UNIFIL Personnel to Lebanon
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The TNI Commander, General Agus Subiyanto, bade farewell to 744 TNI personnel attached to the Garuda Contingent Task Force (Konga) United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) to carry out a peacekeeping mission in Lebanon. In an official press release from the Indonesian Air Force Public Affairs Service (Dispenau) received in Jakarta on Friday, the farewell took place at the TNI Headquarters, Cilangkap, East Jakarta, on Thursday (21 May). General Agus said Indonesia’s involvement in global peacekeeping missions is a manifestation of international trust in the professionalism of Indonesian service personnel. The TNI Commander also reminded servicemen to prioritise their own safety by performing their duties in accordance with applicable safety standards and procedures. ‘Increase vigilance against developments in the situation, and maintain morale and health during the assignment,’ said Agus in the press release. A total of 744 Konga UNIFIL personnel will serve for one year, replacing the previous personnel who have completed their deployment. The personnel dispatched consist of 571 soldiers of the Indonesian Army (TNI AD), 79 sailors of the Indonesian Navy (TNI AL), 63 personnel from the Indonesian Air Force (TNI AU), and 31 personnel from the TNI Headquarters (Mabes TNI).
