TNI Commander Reports Harvest Results of Sugarcane, Rice, and Soybean Programmes to Prabowo

TNI Commander General Agus Subiyanto has delivered a report to President Prabowo Subianto on the production results of the food security programme organised by the TNI. Three commodities were planted: sugarcane, rice, and soybeans. “Requesting permission to report, Mr President, following up on your directive, the TNI is implementing integrated assistance: the Air Force on sugarcane commodities, the Navy on soybean commodities, and the Army on rice commodities,” said Agus Subiyanto during the TNI Grand Harvest event in Malang Regency, East Java, on Friday (17/7/2026). In the sugarcane sector, the Air Force, in synergy with Gula Nusantara and farmer associations, assisted 236,048 hectares of land during the 2026 harvest season, with a production potential of 18.386 million tonnes of sugarcane. This is equivalent to 1.36 million tonnes of sugar, contributing 45.05 per cent to the 2026 national sugar target. Specifically at Abdulrachman Saleh Air Force Base, 800.5 hectares of land are ready for harvest, with an estimated yield of 72,045 tonnes. “The downstream processing of sugarcane also produces molasses, industrial and pharmaceutical bioethanol, organic fertiliser, and other derivative products that add value to the national economy,” he stated. In the soybean sector, the Navy assisted 2,432 hectares of land with a total production of 3,676 tonnes. This is spread across six regions, contributing 0.35 per cent to the 2026 national soybean production target. “In order to increase production yields up to June 2026, new land has been opened on Navy-owned land and land fostered by the Navy Regional Commands covering 3,110 hectares across seven regions, with an estimated yield of 5,287 tonnes. This effort will strengthen food independence and reduce dependence on imports,” the Commander said. Meanwhile, in the rice sector, the Army assisted with the harvest of 479,659 hectares in July 2026. “From January to June 2026, the total harvested area reached 6.26 million hectares with a production of 19.2 million tonnes of rice, supporting 55.24 per cent of the 2026 national rice production target,” he said. According to the Commander, this grand harvest is proof that the TNI is present to strengthen food resilience and independence. He noted that this achievement also stems from synergy between the TNI, the government, state-owned enterprises, the business sector, academics, and the community.
