Jakarta — TNI Commander General Agus Subiyanto explained that Alert Status 1 implemented across various TNI units is part of routine readiness testing, particularly for units within the Rapid Response Force for Natural Disaster Management (PRCPB).

Subiyanto, following the Nuzulul Quran commemoration at the State Palace in Jakarta on Tuesday evening, stated that each Regional Military Command (Kodam) has one battalion prepared for alert status, especially if its territory faces or could face natural disasters.

“I have implemented Alert Status 1 across units, specifically the PRCPB or Rapid Response Force for Natural Disaster Management. So each Kodam has one battalion on Alert Status 1, particularly in areas facing natural disasters,” he said.

Subiyanto emphasised that this measure is not extraordinary but part of standard mechanisms to ensure personnel and equipment readiness.

“We test the readiness of personnel and materiel. This is routine practice,” Subiyanto stated when explaining the alert status.

When asked whether the status related to escalating conflict in the Middle East, Subiyanto declined to comment.

“Thank you. This is routine Alert Status 1,” he said.

The commander stressed that the alert status aims solely to ensure unit readiness to address various possible domestic situations.

Through this exercise, the TNI measures the time required for units from various areas around Jakarta to mobilise to designated points should an emergency occur.

“For example, we calculate how many minutes it takes from those areas around Jakarta, so that if something happens in Jakarta, we can mobilise quickly,” he explained.

Additionally, Subiyanto stated that personnel readiness is being prepared to assist police in maintaining security ahead of the joint leave period and the Eid exodus.

He added that the alert status has no set time limit. After personnel and materiel readiness checks are completed, units can return to normal operations.

Meanwhile, TNI officials stated that the force deployment ceremony held at the Monas area in Central Jakarta on Tuesday was conducted to verify soldier and equipment readiness in responding to developments in national security. The ceremony, led by TNI Commander Subiyanto, involved various units from the Army, Navy, and Air Force, and showcased tactical vehicles and operational support equipment.

During the ceremony, the TNI Commander and service chiefs conducted direct inspections of deployed forces and materiel.
