Jakarta — TNI Commander General Agus Subiyanto has addressed a telegram containing an Alert Level 1 order to all units within the military institution.

Alert Level 1, according to Agus, is a standard military term and routine preparedness measure for military personnel in disaster response operations. “Alert Level 1 is military terminology that is commonly used in the military. I have implemented Alert Level 1 across units, particularly the Rapid Response Natural Disaster Mitigation Forces. Each regional military command (Kodam) maintains one battalion on Alert Level 1 when there is a natural disaster in its area,” Agus stated at the Palace in Jakarta on Tuesday evening (10 March 2026).

“We are testing the readiness of personnel and equipment. This is a routine matter,” Agus explained.

When asked whether the conflict in the Middle East prompted the Alert Level 1 order, Agus offered a brief response.

“Alert Level 1 is a routine matter,” he said.

Regarding the tactical vehicle convoys spotted in the National Monument (Monas) area, Agus explained that the activity was part of mobilisation speed simulation and testing. The TNI is measuring the time required for units to move from one location to another during emergency situations.

“For example, we calculate how many minutes it takes units in Jakarta to deploy from various areas, so that if something occurs in Jakarta we can mobilise quickly,” Agus said.

“This is a readiness test, and once completed, we verify the results and return the units to their bases,” the four-star general added.

In TNI Commander Telegram Number TR/283/2026, the Commander issued seven main instructions to military units. First, the Commander of the TNI’s Main Operations Command was ordered to place personnel and major weapons systems on alert. They were also instructed to conduct patrols at strategic vital facilities and economic centres.
