TNI Commander Asserts Responsibility for Public Security Across Indonesia Ahead of Independence Day

TNI Commander General Agus Subiyanto has affirmed that the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) is responsible for maintaining security and public order for all communities across Indonesia, particularly ahead of the 81st anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia.

Agus made the remarks following a coordination meeting with leaders of the House of Representatives (DPR RI), State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit, and the chiefs of staff of the TNI branches at the Parliamentary Complex in Senayan, Central Jakarta, on Monday, 10 August 2026.

“Especially as we will soon celebrate the anniversary of independence, let us welcome the celebration of the Republic of Indonesia’s independence anniversary with joy,” Agus told reporters at the Parliamentary Complex in Senayan, Central Jakarta.

“And I am responsible for the security of communities in regions across Indonesia,” he continued.

Agus also explained that the TNI would conduct patrols to ensure security and order in all regions.

In implementing these measures, Agus said the TNI would coordinate directly with the National Police.

“The TNI continues to carry out patrols in various regions to secure communities and create a sense of safety among the public,” he explained.
