Parliament member TB Hasanuddin, serving on Commission I of the Indonesian House of Representatives, has emphasised the importance of transparency and coordination from the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) regarding the Alert Status 1 issue. He notes that military readiness is a sensitive matter with potential to generate speculation if not clearly communicated.

“For this reason, I hope the TNI can convey information in a more coordinated manner so that the public receives a complete explanation and prevents various interpretations,” Hasanuddin said in Jakarta on Monday (9 March 2026).

Meanwhile, Commission I Deputy Chair Dave Laksono views the increase in readiness status to Alert Status 1 as reflecting the TNI’s commitment to maintaining national security. He argues that the measure also provides reassurance to the public amid developments in the Middle East conflict.

“Commission I of the House of Representatives views this policy as part of a strategy to strengthen national resilience,” said Dave.

Brigadier General Aulia Dwi Nasrullah, Head of the TNI Central Information Office, has responded to the Alert Status 1 issue based on a telegram from the TNI Commander (No. TR/283/2026) circulating among the public.

“The TNI operates professionally and responsively, realised by continuously maintaining capability and strength to remain operationally ready, as well as alert to anticipate developments in the international, regional, and national strategic environment,” said Aulia.

He added that one effort to strengthen national defence is conducting regular briefings to inspect troop readiness, though Aulia did not confirm the accuracy of Alert Status 1 circulating among the public.

In the TNI Commander’s telegram TR/283/2026, Alert Status 1 instructions were issued to all TNI units to anticipate escalation of conflict in the Middle East. The telegram contains seven points of instruction, including deploying personnel and equipment, as well as conducting patrols at strategic vital objects and economic centres.

Strategic vital objects include airports, seaports and river ports, railway stations, bus terminals, and state electricity company (PLN) offices, as part of comprehensive national security measures.
