TNI Claims to Neutralise 12 OPM Figures Throughout 2026, Here is the List

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Commander of the Joint Regional Defence Command III, Lieutenant General TNI Lucky Avianto, has announced that 12 figures from the West Papua National Liberation Army–Free Papua Organisation (TPNPB-OPM) have been neutralised by troops from January to May 2026.

Lucky stated that this represents TNI’s commitment to maintaining security in the Papua region.

“Kogabwilhan III is fully committed to continuously ensuring a conducive situation. We want to make sure that mothers can go to the market peacefully, children can attend school cheerfully, and development in Papua progresses without disruption,” said Lucky in a press release on Friday (8/5/2026).

In addition, Manuel Yohanes Aimau, who served as Deputy Commander of Operations for Kodap IV Soraya, Hurbianus Murip as Head of Finance for Kodap III D Dulla, Alfon Sorry as Deputy Commander of Operations for Kodap IV Soraya, and Jeki Murib, said to be Commander of the Ilaga Region Kodap XVII, were also neutralised.

There were also Lau Gwijangge as Commander of the Mugie Region, Ket Gwijangge as Commander of Operations for Yon Mugi, Second Lieutenant Usmabul, said to be Deputy Commander of Operations for Mugi, and Serlu Wonimbo.

In those operations, at least several soldiers fell due to attacks from OPM.

“Their sacrifices are real proof of boundless love for the Unitary Republic of Indonesia,” Lucky emphasised.

TNI also claims to have secured dozens of firearms, hundreds of rounds of ammunition, sharp weapons, communication devices, documents, and attributes said to belong to TPNPB-OPM.

Lucky said that the success of these operations is the result of synergy between TNI, local government, security apparatus, and support from the people of Papua.

In every operation, TNI is said to always prioritise the principle of proportionality as well as protection of public facilities.

In addition, the public is urged to remain calm and not easily provoked by false information or hoaxes.

Lucky invited all elements of society to maintain unity and together realise a safe, peaceful, and prosperous Papua.
