TNI Chief Spokesperson: Indonesian Military Serious About Reforms in Law Enforcement
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Head of the TNI Information Centre, Major General TNI Aulia Dwi Nasrullah, stated that his institution is serious about carrying out internal reforms, particularly in the field of law enforcement.
These internal revitalisation efforts were discussed in a coordination meeting attended by Defence Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin and TNI Commander General TNI Agus Subiyanto along with their staff at the Ministry of Defence Office in Jakarta on Wednesday.
“Today’s coordination meeting discussed the internal revitalisation of the TNI,” said Aulia during a press conference at TNI Headquarters in Cilangkap, East Jakarta, on Wednesday.
Aulia explained that the internal revitalisation, especially in the field of law enforcement, is being carried out in accordance with the directives of President Prabowo Subianto.
So far, according to Aulia, many TNI personnel have achieved accomplishments and provided the best service to the public while carrying out their duties.
He cited the dedication of personnel tasked with assisting communities during post-disaster recovery in Sumatra and securing areas in Papua. Those personnel have received appropriate recognition from the state for all their performance.
“We give personnel recognition in the form of extraordinary promotions and priority for personnel to attend education as well as the awarding of service medals,” Aulia explained.
“The TNI states that it will not tolerate and will take firm action in accordance with applicable legal provisions, whether through military courts, the imposition of disciplinary punishments in the form of detention and dismissal from positions, or dishonourable discharge from military service,” he said.
Aulia also assured that his institution will not consider the rank of personnel in enforcing the law within the TNI.
“Enforcement of the law against personnel at various rank levels, both officers, non-commissioned officers, and enlisted personnel, with various types of violations, ranging from abuse of authority, including involvement in illegal activities and other criminal acts, including assaults,” he stated.
With the strengthening of law enforcement within the TNI, the Chief Spokesperson is confident that his institution can transform into a better one in line with President Prabowo Subianto’s wishes.
“The TNI continues to carry out reforms through strengthening internal supervision, improving the quality of leadership at every command level, and instilling values of discipline and integrity in all personnel,” he said.
