Jakarta (ANTARA) — The Commander of the Indonesian Army (TNI AD), General Maruli Simanjuntak, has confirmed that the armed force is constructing 40 armco bridges at disaster-affected locations in Aceh region.

According to an official press statement received in Jakarta on Tuesday, the construction effort is being undertaken to repair land routes that were previously cut off due to severe flooding.

Simanjuntak stated that the bridge construction also aims to expedite post-disaster recovery in the region.

“Through this bridge construction project, TNI AD is helping to restore transportation access for the public so that economic activities and logistics distribution can return to normal operations,” Simanjuntak said in the press statement.

The 40 armco bridges are being constructed across several areas in Aceh Province, namely Aceh Tamiang Regency, which includes Alue Gadeng Dua, Alue Sentang, Terban, and Blang Kandis.

In East Aceh Regency, bridges are being built in Buket Kuta, Alue Buloh, Paya Biliesa, Blang Gleum, Buket Makmur, Lhok Seuntang, Gampong Baroh, Alur Pinrang, Alue Itam, Peunaron Lama, Alue Siwah, and Keudongdong.

Meanwhile, in Bireuen Regency, bridge construction is taking place in Batee Raya, Juli Tambo, Krueng Juli, Alue Limeng, and Salah Sirong Jaya.

In North Aceh Regency, armco bridges are being built in Buket Linteueng, Masjid Meuraksa, and Bangka Jaya.

Simanjuntak hopes that the presence of these bridges will improve public mobility, accelerate logistics distribution, and support economic activities for residents in the disaster-affected areas.
