JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Deputy Chairman of Commission I of the DPR, Dave Laksono, highlighted moral responsibility regarding the Head of the Strategic Intelligence Agency (BAIS) of the TNI, Lieutenant General Yudi Abrimantyo, who relinquished his position after four of his members threw acid at Kontras activist Andrie Yunus.

“I view that every public official has a moral and institutional responsibility to maintain integrity and accountability,” said Dave, when asked for confirmation on Thursday (26/3/2026).

Dave believes that the step taken by the TNI BAIS Chief in surrendering his position as a form of accountability for the Andrie Yunus case is an attitude that deserves appreciation.

Because, he said, it demonstrates awareness of the importance of transparency and public trust in state institutions.

“This shows the institution’s commitment to upholding professionalism and ensuring that every process runs in accordance with applicable legal rules,” he stated.

Dave emphasised that this accountability mechanism does not stop at the personal aspect, but also becomes a momentum for institutional evaluation.

Thus, in the future, similar incidents that could damage public trust in defence and security institutions will not occur again.

Previously, Lieutenant General Yudi Abrimantyo vacated his position as Head of the Strategic Intelligence Agency (BAIS Chief) of the TNI.

The Head of the Information Centre (Kapuspen) of the TNI, Major General Aulia Dwi Nasrullah, during a press conference at TNI Headquarters in Cilangkap on Wednesday (25/3/2026), did not explain clearly whether Yudi resigned or was dismissed.

He only stated that the BAIS Chief position had been handed over as a form of accountability.

“As a form of accountability, today the handover of the BAIS Chief position has been carried out,” said Aulia on Wednesday night (25/3/2026).
