TNI Awards Promotions to Soldiers for Assisting in Disaster Response and Maintaining National Stability
TNI Headquarters has awarded promotions in the form of extraordinary rank advancements to its soldiers who assisted in handling the Sumatra disaster. Awards have also been given to soldiers who maintained security stability in Papua and along the country’s borders.
This was stated by the Head of the TNI Information Centre (Kapuspen) TNI, Brigadier General TNI Aulia Dwi Nasrullah, after holding a meeting with the Ministry of Defence and the TNI. The meeting was attended by the Indonesian Minister of Defence (Menhan), Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, TNI Commander General Agus Subianto, and several other officials.
“This can be seen in the handling of natural disasters in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra, as well as creating security stability in the Papua region and land border areas of Indonesia with other countries, including with Malaysia, Timor-Leste, and Papua New Guinea,” said Aulia during a press conference on Wednesday (25/3/2026).
“The awards are given in the form of extraordinary rank promotions and priority for soldiers to attend education, as well as the provision of service medals,” he added.
Furthermore, Aulia said that the meeting discussed the revitalisation of the TNI to strengthen law enforcement and maintain the honour of the institution. Aulia added that the TNI does not tolerate criminal acts or offences committed by soldiers.
He stated that the TNI institution will take firm action in accordance with applicable legal provisions. For TNI soldiers who commit crimes, Aulia continued, they will be detained and tried in military courts. The TNI will also dishonourably discharge soldiers who violate the law.
“It will take firm action in accordance with applicable legal provisions, either through military courts, imposition of disciplinary punishments in the form of detention and dismissal from positions, or dishonourable discharge from military service,” he explained.
