TNI Assault Case Damaging Resident's Stall in Kemayoran Ends Peacefully
Police have stated that the brawl leading to the damage of a stall involving Indonesian Army (TNI AD) personnel in Kemayoran, Central Jakarta, has ended peacefully.
“Yes, that’s correct,” said the Head of Criminal Investigation at the Central Jakarta Metro Police Resort, AKBP Roby Heri Saputra, when contacted on Wednesday (6/5).
Meanwhile, the Head of Public Relations at the Central Jakarta Police Resort, Iptu Erlyn Sumantri, conveyed that the peace agreement occurred during the mediation process.
In the mediation, Erlyn stated that both parties mutually forgave each other and did not demand compensation.
“There is no demand for compensation; they simply do not demand anything from each other, forgive one another, and agree not to repeat the actions,” said Erlyn.
Previously, a viral video recording showed a brawl at a stall in the Sumur Batu area, Kemayoran, Central Jakarta. The brawl allegedly involved TNI personnel and the stall keeper.
The TNI AD Information Service Officer, Brigjen Donny Pramono, confirmed the brawl incident between TNI AD personnel and civilians at the location. He said the brawl was triggered by the shopping transaction process.
“We need to explain that the incident began with a misunderstanding during the transaction at the stall, which then escalated into an argument. In the incident, the TNI AD personnel named Sertu AW actually sustained injuries from being stabbed by the stall owner and is currently receiving medical treatment at Hermina Kemayoran Hospital,” Donny stated in his remarks to reporters on Tuesday (5/5).
Donny explained that the subsequent damage to the stall was part of the chain of events at the location where the situation had already heated up.
“The TNI AD ensures that every personnel involved will be processed according to applicable regulations if proven to have committed violations,” he said.
