TNI Asks Public to Await Results of Investigation into Acid Attack Case Against Andrie Yunus

JAKARTA - The Head of the TNI Information Centre (Kapuspen), Major General TNI Aulia Dwi Nasrullah, has asked the public to await the results of the investigation currently being conducted by investigators from the TNI Military Police Centre (Puspom) regarding the acid attack on KontraS activist Andrie Yunus (AY).

“Please wait until the entire investigation process by Puspom TNI investigators is completed,” said Aulia when contacted on Tuesday (24/3/2026).

“To date, the investigation process against the four personnel suspected of assaulting AY is still ongoing,” Aulia stated.

Previously, Deputy Coordinator of the Commission for Missing Persons and Victims of Violence (KontraS), Andrie Yunus, suffered serious burns after being doused with acid by unidentified individuals in the Senen area, Central Jakarta, on Thursday night (12/3/2026).

In the development of the investigation, this case implicates the alleged involvement of TNI personnel. Four members of the Headquarters Detachment (Denma) of the TNI Strategic Intelligence Agency (BAIS) from Navy (AL) and Air Force (AU) elements have been secured and detained at the Jayakarta Military District Police (Pomdam Jaya).

The four soldiers, holding the ranks of first officers and non-commissioned officers, are suspected of being involved in the assault against the KontraS activist.
