Geopolitical expert Rasminto appreciates the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) for its rapid response to the case of an acid attack on the Deputy Chairman of KontraS.

“The swift actions taken by the TNI institution in uncovering the perpetrators reflect a strong commitment to the principles of transparency, accountability, and law enforcement,” Rasminto stated in his remarks on Wednesday (18/3/2026).

Rasminto assesses that the speed of TNI Headquarters in clarifying facts, uncovering the perpetrators, and opening the process to the public serves as an important indicator that the TNI does not tolerate any form of legal violations, especially those that could harm public sense of justice.

“The rapid response from TNI Headquarters shows that this institution operates professionally, measurably, and non-defensively. This is crucial for maintaining public trust while ensuring that every alleged violation is handled objectively and transparently,” Rasminto said.

Furthermore, he emphasised that in the context of geopolitics and national stability, clarity of information and firmness from authorities are key factors in curbing wild speculation and the potential politicisation of issues.

“In many cases, delays in handling incidents open the door to disinformation and narratives that can fracture social cohesion,” he stated.

According to Rasminto, the steps taken by TNI Headquarters to immediately conduct an internal investigation, coordinate with other law enforcement agencies, and report developments to the public align with good governance practices in the defence sector.

“The transparency demonstrated here is not just about resolving the case but also part of efforts to maintain national stability. In situations like this, the state must provide legal certainty, not mere wild speculation,” he said.

This academic from Muhammadiyah University of Indonesia also reminded the public to respond wisely to circulating information, including that which has not been verified for accuracy.

“In the digital era, the spread of inaccurate narratives can quickly muddy the waters and damage trust in state institutions,” he said.

He added that the professionalism shown by authorities, as demonstrated by TNI Headquarters in this case, should become the standard for handling every legal matter, especially those involving sensitive issues with broad impacts on public perception.

“The firm and responsive stance shown by TNI Headquarters is an important momentum for strengthening public trust in state institutions. When authorities work quickly, openly, and fact-based, the space for slander and provocation becomes narrower,” he concluded.
