Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) and the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) have strengthened bilateral defence cooperation through the 22nd TNI-Singapore Armed Forces Annual Staff Meeting (TSASM) 2026 held in Singapore.

In a statement in Jakarta on Thursday, the Head of Information Services of the TNI, Navy Colonel (P) Agung Saptoadi, noted that the TNI delegation at the 22nd TSASM was led directly by the TNI Chief of General Staff, Lieutenant General Richard T.H. Tampublon.

“The activity took place over two days, from Tuesday (2/6) to Thursday (4/6),” he said.

He stated that this event serves as an annual strategic consultation forum between the TNI and the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) to evaluate and strengthen the bilateral defence cooperation of both nations.

“The 22nd TSASM session was co-chaired by TNI Chief of General Staff Lieutenant General Richard T.H. Tampublon and the Chief of Staff – Joint Staff Singapore Armed Forces, Brigadier General Chan Ching Hao,” said Agung.

Prior to the main session, he added, the TNI Chief of General Staff conducted a courtesy call with the COS-JS SAF as part of a series of activities aimed at deepening professional ties and mutual understanding between the two armed forces.

Subsequently, both delegations engaged in comprehensive discussions regarding the development of various bilateral cooperation mechanisms under the framework of Indonesia-Singapore defence relations.

The session reviewed progress reports from several joint cooperation forums, including the Indonesia-Singapore Joint Intelligence Committee (ISJIC), the Indonesia-Singapore Joint Operations and Exercise Committee (ISJOEC), the Indonesia-Singapore Joint Education and Staff Planning Committee (ISJESPC), and the Indonesia-Singapore Joint Logistics Committee (ISJLC).

Furthermore, the two delegations discussed various strategic defence issues of mutual concern, as well as plans for the next TSASM.

He added that through the TSASM mechanism, both parties are committed to continuously developing mutually beneficial cooperation based on the principles of equality, mutual respect, and shared interests.

The Indonesian delegation accompanying the TNI Chief of General Staff comprised elements from the TNI Headquarters, representatives from the Army, Navy, and Air Force, the Republic of Indonesia Defence Attaché in Singapore, and personnel from the TNI International Cooperation Centre (Puskersin).

The presence of this multi-disciplinary delegation reflects the TNI’s commitment to strengthening comprehensive defence cooperation with the SAF.

At the conclusion of the meeting, both heads of delegation signed the 22nd TSASM Minutes as a formal agreement on the outcomes of the discussions and the future direction of Indonesia-Singapore bilateral defence cooperation.
