The Singapore Army and the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) have completed the 32nd iteration of Exercise Chandrapura (XCP), which took place in Singapore from 1–6 July 2026.

According to a release from the Singapore Ministry of Defence on Tuesday, the exercise involved the 1st Commando Battalion of the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) and the TNI’s Special Forces Command (Kopustus).

During the training, both forces exchanged professional knowledge regarding commando tactics, operational techniques, and mission planning procedures. The exercises also included close-quarters combat, fast-roping techniques, rappelling, and static jumping.

The series of drills concluded with a Field Training Exercise (FTX) at SAFTI City, where personnel from both nations conducted simulated joint attacks against enemy targets.

At the end of the exercise, as a symbol of mutual respect and friendship, personnel from both armies also exchanged paratrooper badges.

The closing ceremony was co-led by the Chief of Staff of the Singapore Army, Brigadier General Wong Shi Ming, and the Deputy Chief of Staff of the TNI Army, Lieutenant General Muhammad Saleh Mustafa.

In his address, Wong stated that the exercise reflects the strong and evolving relationship between the commando forces of both nations. “This exercise reflects the strong and evolving relationship between our two elite forces, built through close interaction and shared experiences over many years. Today, the participants stand before us as a testament to the friendship that has been forged,” he said.

“The true strength of this partnership lies in the friendship and trust built among the soldiers. I hope the bonds formed during these few days will endure after the exercise ends and further strengthen the relationship between our two armed forces in the years to come,” Wong added.

Exercise Chandrapura was first held in 1994 and serves as a manifestation of the long-standing defence relationship between Indonesia and Singapore. In addition to joint exercises, both armies regularly maintain cooperation through high-level military visits, professional exchanges, and participation in various military education programmes in each respective country.
