TNI Ammunition Depot in Madiun Explodes During Routine Maintenance

The Indonesian Army confirmed an explosion at its Central Ammunition Depot (Gupusmu) in Saradan District, Madiun Regency, East Java, on Thursday. The tragic incident occurred while several soldiers were carrying out routine maintenance on munitions materiel. Army spokesperson Brigadier General Donny Pramono stated that based on initial reports, the incident happened as personnel were performing inspection and maintenance procedures in one of the storage facilities. One soldier was killed in the explosion, and six others sustained injuries ranging from minor to severe. All victims have been evacuated to a nearby hospital for intensive medical treatment. The Army has not yet detailed the exact cause of the explosion or the type of munition involved, pending the results of an investigation by a team deployed to the site.
