TNI AD Uses Persuasive and Humane Approach in Lenteng Agung Military Housing Reorganisation
The Head of the Indonesian Army Information Service (Kadispenad), Brigadier General TNI Donny Pramono, has emphasised that the regulation and arrangement of official residences in Lenteng Agung, South Jakarta, is an effort to restore the function of state assets. This step was taken to facilitate housing needs for active-duty soldiers following organisational validation within the TNI AD environment.
Donny explained that the objects being regulated are part of the assets of Denzijihandak/SDS of the Army Corps of Engineers (Pusziad). The land, spanning 44,841 square metres, possesses strong legal legitimacy in the form of Use Right Certificate Number 00184 of 2016 under the name of the Government of the Republic of Indonesia c.q. the Indonesian Army.
“The former Zikon 15 area, which is the focus of this arrangement, covers approximately 15,250 square metres and has been designated from the beginning as official residences for TNI AD soldiers,” Donny stated in an official briefing in Jakarta on Thursday (11/6).
According to Donny, the need for official residences has increased alongside the change in unit status from the Engineer Jihandak Company to the Engineer Jihandak Detachment (Denzijihandak). Given that the building status is Category II State Housing, its use is strictly reserved for active TNI members.
“Official residences must be returned if the occupants have entered retirement, transferred to another unit, or no longer have the right to occupy them,” he asserted.
Before the enforcement action took place on Tuesday (9/2), the TNI AD claimed to have employed persuasive and humanist approaches from July to August 2024. The socialisation process involved local community leaders (RT/RW), the Lenteng Agung Village authorities, the Jagakarsa District, and the National Land Agency (BPN).
Out of a total of 152 households occupying the area, 45 households had agreed to move voluntarily before the enforcement was carried out. Although some resistance occurred during the execution process, Donny ensured that the TNI AD has no intention of depriving the community of their right to decent housing.
“What we are doing is organising and restoring the function of state assets so they are used according to their intended purpose in supporting the needs of active soldiers and national defence duties,” Donny concluded.
