TNI AD Clarifies Viral Video of Officer's Aide Stopped During Jogja Marathon
The Indonesian Army (TNI AD) has clarified a viral video showing a high-ranking officer’s aide being stopped during the Mandiri Jogja Marathon 2026 on Sunday (21/6).
Head of Army Information (Kadispenad) Brigadier General Donny Pramono stated in Jakarta on Monday that the incident involving the aide being halted by marshals was a misunderstanding. “We can explain that the event was a misunderstanding on the ground between the track officials and the aide of Danrem 072/Pamungkas during the activity,” Donny said.
He identified the officer as Brigadier General Yuniar Dwi Hantono, Commander of Military Resort 072/Pamungkas. The officer was participating in the marathon alongside his wife, one of his children, and his aide. Donny confirmed that all four were registered participants holding official tickets from the event organiser, and each had been issued a BIB or participant identification number required to be worn during the race.
However, the aide’s BIB fell off in the middle of the crowded track, leading to a misunderstanding when officials conducted checks. This prompted the marshals to stop the aide, who was running while documenting Brigadier General Yuniar during the race. The moment was captured on social media, showing Yuniar briefly arguing with officials over the aide’s removal.
“After the incident, the organiser, event organiser, and Danrem 072/Pamungkas immediately communicated and clarified the matter. All parties understand that this was purely a technical issue on the ground and it has been resolved amicably,” Donny said.
The Army expressed appreciation for the committee’s professional work in maintaining order and enforcing race regulations. Donny urged the public to view the incident wisely and avoid drawing conclusions based on unverified facts. “We hope the public can see this event proportionally and not link it to other matters inconsistent with the actual facts,” he concluded.
