The Mount Rinjani National Park (TNGR) Office in West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) is involving community groups to improve waste management in the Mount Rinjani area of Lombok to preserve the environment.

“Real steps to preserve Mount Rinjani continue to be strengthened through collaboration with various parties,” said Head of the TNGR Office Budy Kurniawan in Mataram on Friday.

The TNGR Office has signed a memorandum of understanding on waste transportation between the Region I National Park Management Section (SPTN) and the Arung Rinjani Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle Waste Management Site (TPS3R) in Senaru Village.

Through this synergy, he continued, it is hoped that a more effective, integrated, and sustainable waste management system will be created, so that the cleanliness of the area is maintained and the tourism experience becomes more comfortable.

The Mount Rinjani area is not just a destination to be enjoyed today, he said, but a natural heritage that must be preserved for future generations. With strong collaboration, every climb will align with environmental conservation efforts.

In addition, the TNGR Office is carrying out mentoring activities for community-assisted groups in the Torean and Aik Berik Resort areas as an effort to strengthen institutions, increase business capacity, and encourage community economic development in line with conservation principles.

“Sustainable mentoring is expected to strengthen group independence, increase the added value of superior community products, and strengthen the community’s role in protecting conservation areas for future generations,” said Head of the TNGR Office Budy Kurniawan.
