TNGR: Injured Climber Evacuated by Helicopter
Lombok Timur — The Rinjani National Park Authority (TNGR) stated that a Malaysian climber named Chye Connsynn (41), who was injured during a trek in Mount Rinjani, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), has been evacuated by helicopter.
“Air evacuation is part of the premium insurance claim process at TNGR,” said Astekita Ardiaristo, Head of the Administrative Sub-Section of TNGR, in Lombok Timur on Tuesday.
He said the TNGR duty officer reported clear weather at Pelawangan at 6:45 am WITA, prompting immediate preparation of the air evacuation for the safety of the Malaysian climber who had an accident during the trek.
“The victim was moved to a stretcher to facilitate evacuation. The helicopter then took off towards Pelawangan 2,” he said.
After landing in Sembalun to drop off medical staff to reduce the aircraft’s load, the helicopter successfully landed at the Pelawangan 2 helipad and immediately evacuated the victim to Sembalun.
“The victim was flown to a referral hospital in Denpasar, Bali for further medical treatment,” he said.
TNGR praised all parties involved in the humanitarian operation, including Mataram Basarnas, EMHC, Kita Bisa Sharia Insurance, SGI Air Bali, Nusa Medica Clinic, Lombok Timur SAR Unit, volunteers, and all TNGR staff who worked swiftly, alertly, and with dedication.
“We hope the victim recovers soon and all personnel involved remain safe,” he said.
“The evacuation was attempted by helicopter, but due to thick fog, it turned back to Denpasar after several attempts to approach the victim’s location,” he said.
EMHC and Basarnas teams departed from Sembalun Resort to the location (victim’s tent at Plawangan 2) to assist with treatment and prepare for the scheduled air evacuation on Tuesday.
