TNBTS: Tengger Caldera Ring Road Development 65% Complete, Targeted for October 2026

The Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park (TNBTS) has stated that the development process for the Tengger Caldera Ring Road (JLKT) within the national park area has reached 65 per cent and is targeted for completion in October 2026. “The work will be finished in October, and the latest progress on the JLKT is already at 65 per cent,” said TNBTS Head Rudijanta Tjahja Nugraha in Bromo, East Java, on Monday. He said the ongoing work includes area clearance and the installation and painting of boundary posts between the road and the grassland area. Meanwhile, upcoming progress will involve the installation of wire slings on fences and traffic signs. “The current focus is on installing the posts first, followed by the construction of the track,” he stated. The JLKT spans a length of 13 kilometres with a width of 18 metres, stretching across the Tengger Caldera area towards the viewing point at Simpang Dingklik, which falls within the administrative region of Pasuruan Regency, East Java. The development of the JLKT area is part of efforts to strengthen local wisdom and the tourism sector within the TNBTS area by aligning with nature conservation efforts and preventing damage to sites considered sacred by the Tengger community. Therefore, the TNBTS has emphasised that the development of the JLKT area continues to observe and adapt to conservation principles and norms. Additionally, Rudi conveyed that the JLKT work is separate from the development of rest areas at three points: Cemorolawang, Watu Gede, and Dingklik. He further stated that the development of the rest area at Cemorolawang is underway, with facilities such as tenant spaces and toilets already built. “Then at Watu Gede, where the water tank is visible, that is also a rest area. Another one is at Dingklik, just before ascending to the viewing point. So two locations are in Probolinggo (Cemorolawang and Watu Gede), and one other is in Pasuruan Regency (Dingklik),” said Rudi.
