TNBTS confirms Bromo tourism activities reopen tomorrow
The Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park Agency (TNBTS) has confirmed that tourism activities in the Mount Bromo area, East Java, will reopen on Thursday (20/8) at 00.01 WIB, following the successful handling of forest and land fires that occurred in recent weeks.
Head of the TNBTS Agency, Rudijanta Tjahja Nugraha, said in a press statement received in Malang, East Java, on Wednesday that the reopening of access for visitors to Bromo was based on the results of monitoring and evaluation of the area’s post-fire conditions.
“Considering the safety aspects of visitors and officers, the Bromo area will be opened for tourism on Thursday, 20 August 2026, at 00.01 WIB,” said Rudi.
The reopening of the Bromo area is stipulated in Public Announcement Number: PG.19/T.8/TU/HMS.01.07/B/08/2026, issued on 19 August 2026.
The TNBTS Agency announced that visit tickets can now be booked through the official website bromotenggersemeru.id.
The daily visitor quota for the area remains unchanged at 2,752 people per day.
All tourist entry points in the Bromo area, including Cemorolawang in Probolinggo Regency, Wonokitri in Pasuruan Regency, Jemplang and Coban Trisula in Malang Regency, and Senduro in Lumajang Regency, had been completely closed due to the escalating forest and land fires on Saturday night (8/8).
Rudi stated that the reopening of the area for tourism activities still takes into account several matters, namely that visitors must comply with all regulations and instructions from officers in the field, as well as maintain cleanliness and preservation.
Furthermore, tourists are asked not to carry out activities that could trigger fires, such as making campfires or discarding cigarette butts or other objects that could become a source of fire.
If tourists notice smoke, embers, or indications of fire, they are asked to report immediately to officers.
“Let us all work together to protect the area so that fires do not occur again,” he said.
In addition, he stated that the success in handling the fires was due to the hard work of a joint team from various elements.
Furthermore, he said that the fires that appeared in the Mount Bromo area were completely extinguished within 13 days since the fires began on Monday (3/8).
“We would like to thank all parties who have been involved in handling the fires, from officers of the Ministry of Forestry, the TNI, the National Police, BNPB, BPBD, local governments, partners, volunteers, the community, to tourism service providers,” he said.
