The proving ground of the Centre for Roadworthiness Test and Motor Vehicle Certification (BPLJSKB) is considered a vital step in supporting the development of the national automotive industry. Scheduled to begin operations in August 2025, this facility is deemed capable of strengthening product development processes and increasing the competitiveness of manufacturers in both domestic and global markets.

The President Director of Toyota Motor Manufacturing Indonesia (TMMIN), Nandi Julyanto, stated that the existence of this vehicle testing facility could play a strategic role for the Indonesian automotive industry. According to him, the facility in Bekasi, West Java, does not merely function as a vehicle testing site but can also be utilised for various industrial development needs.

“This facility can be utilised for product development, quality assurance, as well as research and development (R&D) activities,” said Nandi. He added that his company appreciates the government’s initiative in providing such a facility. The presence of a modern proving ground is considered increasingly important alongside the rapid advancement of automotive technology, ranging from electrification to advanced safety features.
