TMMIN Donates Vehicle Engine Teaching Aids to Vocational Schools in NTB to Develop Education

Vocational education plays a strategic role as a bridge connecting the world of education with the real needs of the workplace. Therefore, close and sustainable collaboration between the government, educational institutions, and industry is essential. PT Toyota Motor Manufacturing Indonesia (TMMIN) is expanding its vocational school development programme to Lombok Island, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), through the donation of the latest vehicle engines as educational teaching aids. The donation aims to support the strengthening of technical competencies at SMKN 1 Jonggat, Central Lombok, and SMKN 2 Kuripan, West Lombok. This initiative is part of TMMIN’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme in the education sector, which aims to enhance the quality of practical learning at Vocational High Schools (SMK). Referring to the company philosophy ‘Make People Before Make Product’, TMMIN believes that human development is the main foundation for the progress of industry and the nation. The donation was handed over directly by TMMIN President Director Nandi Julyanto during an event held at SMKN 1 Jonggat. On that occasion, SMKN 1 Jonggat received one Toyota 2TR (petrol) engine unit and SMKN 2 Kuripan received one Toyota 2GD (diesel) engine unit. Both car engines will be used as practice tools and learning aids for students, as well as to improve students’ skills regarding the latest technology in Toyota engines that are currently widely available. ‘We believe that the future of Indonesian industry is built from the classrooms occupied by students today. This step may seem simple, but we hope it can be part of their journey to grow, work, and contribute in their respective regions,’ said Nandi Julyanto. In addition to supporting learning facilities, TMMIN consistently runs the Vocational School Development programme at various partner SMKs in Indonesia. This programme aligns the learning process with industry needs through the development of industry-based curricula and the provision of learning aids. TMMIN implements Industrial Culture Implementation in various partner SMKs. This programme aims to instil industrial work culture values from an early age, such as discipline, efficiency, precision, work safety, the ability to work collaboratively, and compliance with operational standards. ‘Education and industry can no longer run separately. Link and match is an important requirement to produce relevant graduates. Schools prepare the competencies, and industry helps shape them. TMMIN wants to take part in that process by supporting the government’s efforts to strengthen the competitiveness of vocational graduates so they are ready to work and contribute, both in Indonesia and on the global stage,’ added Nandi. Before reaching Lombok, TMMIN’s vocational education development programme had been implemented in various partner SMKs spread across several regions of Indonesia, including 29 partner SMKs on Java Island. The presence of the programme in Lombok is part of the company’s ongoing commitment to expanding the benefits of vocational education development to various regions, so that more students gain access to learning that is relevant to industry needs. Through strong collaboration between the education sector, the government, and industry, TMMIN hopes to contribute to creating an increasingly high-quality vocational education ecosystem in Indonesia.
