TKI, govt's responsibility
TKI, govt's responsibility
From Media Indonesia
Indonesian migrant workers (TKI) are so unlucky. After being exploited by unscrupulous brokers and public officials before departure and on their return, they are also pursued by law enforcers in their destination countries.
While TKI produce foreign exchange for the nation, the government has been too slow in dealing with the various cases they have to face, including their recent expulsion from Malaysia.
In my view, the government is in a position to do something about this matter but no serious attempts have been made to handle TKI affairs. Despite the tsunami disaster in Aceh, there is no reason for the government to shirk its responsibility.
