TKA results released: Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education clarifies not for ranking provinces
TKA results must serve as a reflection for all stakeholders to strengthen learning quality improvements nationwide. Jakarta (ANTARA) – The Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen) has clarified that the announcement of the Academic Ability Test (TKA) results for primary and secondary school levels, due to be released at 1pm WIB, is not intended for ranking provinces or schools. Toni Toharudin, Head of the Basic and Secondary Education Policy Agency (BKPDM) at Kemendikdasmen, stressed that TKA is not a tool for labelling regions, educational institutions, or students, but rather an instrument to comprehensively assess academic achievements. ‘We must reiterate that TKA is not a tool for labelling regions, schools, educational units, or students. Therefore, TKA serves as an instrument to comprehensively capture academic achievements,’ Toni said during a media briefing on TKA results for secondary schools (SMP/MTs) and primary schools (SD/MI) at the Kemendikdasmen Complex in Central Jakarta on Tuesday. He added that the TKA results should prompt stakeholders to reflect and strengthen learning quality improvements nationwide. ‘Therefore, today’s results must be understood in the context of education system improvement, not merely as a numerical competition,’ Toni said. Rahmawati, Head of the Education Assessment Centre (Pusmendik) at Kemendikdasmen, stated that the TKA results are published by subject, education level, and province, but not ranked by scores—instead, they are listed by province codes registered in the TKA registration system. This prevents educational institutions, provinces, and other parties from labelling or ranking students from highest to lowest. She further emphasised that TKA scores cannot be compared between regions due to the lack of standardisation across regional questions. ‘Therefore, caution is needed when comparing; regional questions vary in difficulty and have not been standardised against national-level questions. It is not straightforward to compare one region with another,’ Rahmawati said. For primary and secondary school levels, 70% of TKA questions are set by the central government and 30% by local governments. The results of the Academic Ability Test (TKA) for primary and secondary school levels will be released to educational institutions at 1pm WIB today via the official TKA website at https://tka.kemendikdasmen.go.id/hasiltka/.
