Muhammad Tito Karnavian, the Minister of Home Affairs (Mendagri) and Chair of the Disaster Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Acceleration Task Force (Kasatgas PRR Pascabencana Sumatera), stressed that the government has added regional transfer funds (TKD) of around Rp 10.6 trillion to disaster-affected regions in Sumatra to accelerate recovery. The move was announced during the dissemination of Circular Letter on Penyesuaian TKD for the 2026 Fiscal Year (TA) in the Anggaran Pendapatan dan Belanja Daerah (APBD) for disaster-affected areas in Aceh, Sumatra Utara (Sumut), and Sumatra Barat (Sumbar). The event, attended by regional governments from the three affected provinces, was held virtually from the Kemendagri (Ministry of Home Affairs) headquarters in Jakarta on Thursday (5 March 2026).

“We want to strengthen the financial capacity of the disaster-affected regions, three provinces affected by the Sumatra disaster,” Tito said in a press release to Kompas.com.

Furthermore, he said that President Prabowo has provided additional TKD to all kabupaten/kota and provinces in Sumut, Sumbar, and Aceh, whether directly affected or not.

Currently, the TKD augmentation policy has been implemented through Minister of Finance Decree (KMK) RI Number 59 of 2026. Tito has also issued a circular (SE) to regulate its technical use.

“I am trying to facilitate my fellow executive regional heads,” he added.

At the event, Tito also conveyed President Prabowo’s instruction that the extra TKD must really be used to accelerate disaster recovery. “This includes for spatial planning, for example, disaster management training. I have even created opportunities for TKD to be used for addressing inflation,” Tito said.
