CROATIA: Aleksandar Broz, son of the former Yugoslav leader Marshall Josip Broz Tito, will become Croatian ambassador to Indonesia, the foreign ministry announced on Wednesday.
During the 1990s, Broz served in Croatian embassies as an economic advisor in Cairo and as ambassador to Moscow.
His father, Marshall Tito, was the leader of socialist Yugoslavia between 1945 until his death in 1980. Former Yugoslavia broke up in 1991 after which Croatia became an independent state.
Former Yugoslavia and Indonesia have friendly relations as they were both members of the non-aligned nations' bloc. --DPA
