Home Affairs Minister (Mendagri) Muhammad Tito Karnavian, as Chair of the Task Force for Accelerating Rehabilitation and Reconstruction (PRR) Post-Disaster in the Sumatra Region, witnessed the handover of a Letter of Intent to Provide Special Financial Assistance from the Medan City Government to the Aceh Tamiang Regency Government. Additionally, the handover was also conducted by the Pematangsiantar City Government to the Bener Meriah Regency Government.

The handover ceremony formed part of the Task Force Chair Tito’s activities in attending the Working Meeting of APEKSI Regional Commissariat I at the Ballroom of Hotel Kyriad Muraya, Banda Aceh City, Aceh, on Monday (20/4). On the other hand, the ceremony also marked the commitment of regions in supporting post-disaster recovery in Aceh.

As is known, previously, Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto established a policy to adjust Regional Transfers (TKD) for the 2026 Fiscal Year (TA) for all regions in Aceh Province, North Sumatra (Sumut), and West Sumatra (Sumbar) with a minimum amount equal to TA 2025, both for disaster-affected and non-affected regions.

Subsequently, the Mendagri issued Circular Letter (SE) Number 900.1.3/1084/SJ, which contains recommendations for regions not affected by disasters in the three provinces to support post-disaster recovery.

“I issued an official circular, not for myself. Not even one rupiah will go to me. But purely because as Task Force Chair, I can see the problems in all these regions,” Tito stated in his remarks on Monday (20/4/2026).

Based on data from the Directorate General (Ditjen) of Regional Financial Development (Keuda) of the Ministry of Home Affairs as of 20 April 2026, eight regions have committed to proposing assistance to disaster-affected regions in Aceh. These regions include Medan City, which submitted financial assistance of Rp50 billion to Aceh Tamiang Regency. Then, Deli Serdang Regency proposed assistance of Rp50 billion to Aceh Timur Regency.

Next, Simalungun Regency proposed assistance of Rp30 billion to Aceh Utara Regency. Asahan Regency proposed assistance of Rp30 billion to Bireuen Regency. And Serdang Bedagai Regency proposed assistance of Rp25 billion to Pidie Jaya Regency.

In addition, Labuhanbatu Selatan Regency proposed assistance of Rp25 billion to Aceh Tengah Regency. Then, Pematangsiantar City proposed assistance of Rp25 billion to Bener Meriah Regency. And Labuhanbatu Regency proposed assistance of Rp25 billion to Gayo Lues Regency.

“Thank you to all the regional heads, the eight regional heads who contributed or donated to the regional heads [affected by disasters in Aceh] who I truly know are in difficulty,” he expressed.

After witnessing the handover, Tito proceeded to Masjid Raya Baiturrahman in Banda Aceh City. At the mosque, Tito handed over assistance in the form of one operational vehicle for Masjid Raya Baiturrahman.

Furthermore, Tito hopes that the assistance can help with the operationalisation of the mosque, which is the heart of community life in Aceh.

“At the same time, I also request support from Masjid Baiturrahman so that the task of disaster recovery can be prayed for to be accelerated and to receive blessings from Allah SWT,” Tito concluded.
