Tito Urges Papua Regional Governments to Collaborate in Supporting Prabowo's Housing Programme
Minister of Home Affairs (Mendagri) Muhammad Tito Karnavian has urged regional governments (Pemda) in Papua to strengthen collaboration in supporting the implementation of the housing programme. “The President fully understands that one way to bring the state to the people, realise justice, and prosper the citizens is through the most fundamental issue of housing,” said the Minister at the Socialisation of KPP, FLPP, and PNM for the Papua Region at the Drs. Ec. Lambert Jitmau Building in Sorong City, Southwest Papua, on Monday (27/4) evening. Tito explained that the government has prepared various policies to support housing affordability, particularly for low-income communities (MBR). These policies include exemptions from Land and Building Acquisition Duty (BPHTB) and Building Permit Approval (PBG) for MBR groups. “So that people who cannot afford it can have purchasing power that is affordable, that’s the goal. This can really help,” he said. He also appreciated the efforts of the Ministry of Housing and Settlement Areas (PKP), which continues to promote financing innovations and expand access to decent housing. According to him, cross-ministerial and institutional collaboration is key to addressing national housing development challenges.
