Tito Reviews Enang-Enang Bridge, Requests Information Boards Be Installed

The Chair of the Task Force for the Acceleration of Post-Disaster Rehabilitation and Reconstruction (Satgas PRR), Tito Karnavian, has stressed that the acceleration of infrastructure recovery in disaster-affected areas must go hand in hand with the principle of transparency. He stated that openness of information is crucial so that the public can directly monitor the progress of each project and participate in overseeing the post-disaster rehabilitation and reconstruction process.

Tito made these remarks while inspecting the Enang-Enang Bridge in Pintu Rime Gayo District, Bener Meriah Regency, Aceh, on Tuesday (7/7). According to him, transparency regarding budget utilisation and project execution is an essential part of building public trust in the government’s efforts to restore disaster-affected infrastructure.

To achieve this, Tito requested that the Bener Meriah Regency Government, together with relevant agencies, install information boards at every work site. These boards should contain details about the type of work, budget usage, progress, and completion targets so that the public can clearly understand the ongoing development phases.

‘Install billboards so that the public truly knows, “oh, this road and bridge are under construction”. And provide information, for example, that the Enang-Enang Bridge will be strengthened. So that the public can see it, and put the logo of the Ministry of Public Works there,’ Tito said in a written statement on Wednesday (8/7/2026).

In addition to ensuring transparency, the government is also accelerating the handling of infrastructure in the Bener Meriah area. Tito estimates that the budget required for road repairs, bridge construction, widening of alternative routes, and the construction of a long-span bridge will reach approximately Rp1.1 trillion. One of the strategic projects being prepared is the construction of a new 300-metre bridge that will become a new icon for the Gayo region.

As an acceleration measure, the government has agreed on three main strategies for handling the Enang-Enang area. First, expanding and increasing the capacity of the alternative road through Wer Lah. Second, building a new permanent bridge as a long-term solution. Third, strengthening the structure of the Enang-Enang Bridge so that it can continue to be used safely by the community during the transition period.

These steps are a follow-up by the government to the needs of the community, which has relied on the Enang-Enang Bridge as a main route for daily activities and mobility. Previously, residents had even worked together to repair access to the bridge independently to maintain inter-regional connectivity.

‘We have agreed. First, the Wer Lah alternative road will be widened and repaired by the Public Works Agency. Second, the permanent bridge will still be built by the Ministry of Public Works because it is important for the people of Tanah Gayo. Third, the Enang-Enang Bridge will continue to function, but it will be strengthened and its technical structure will be studied further by the Public Works Agency. I will continue to monitor its progress,’ Tito said.
