Home Affairs Minister Muhammad Tito Karnavian has voiced full support for implementing the zero-percent policy on BPHTB as well as the exemption of the PBG retribution for low-income communities (MBR). He said the policy implementation could accelerate access to decent housing. ‘With the zero-percent BPHTB, the amount payable from the NJOP is effectively zero; the five-percent portion payable is eliminated. The same applies to PBG,’ he told a collaboration event on Housing Financing Program and People’s Economic Empowerment at Graha Bhakti Praja Conference Center, Governor’s Office of West Nusa Tenggara NTB, on Tuesday, 19 May. Tito explained the government is also expanding the MBR category so more people can access housing programs. ‘The ceiling has been raised again by the Minister of Housing and Settlement Areas (PKP) Maruarar Sirait, so more people can be included in the low-income category,’ he said. To support the implementation of zero-percent BPHTB and PBG waivers for MBR, the Minister urged all regions to have a Mal Pelayanan Publik (MPP). He said the MPP facilitates licensing services through a one-stop system, including PBG issuance.
