Home Affairs Minister and Chair of the Sumatra Disaster Recovery Acceleration Task Force, Tito Karnavian, revealed that the government has approved a budget of Rp100.16 trillion for the permanent recovery of three provinces in Sumatra. The funds will be used for rebuilding in disaster-affected areas.

Tito stated that Sumatra’s rehabilitation and reconstruction has now entered the third phase, permanent recovery, following the emergency response and transition phases. The government has also prepared a master plan for the reconstruction after compiling data from all affected regions.

“The budget we proposed has thankfully been approved by the government, and we reported it to the DPR RI Task Force chaired by Prof Sufmi Dasco Ahmad,” Tito said after attending a Task Force meeting at the Parliament Complex in Senayan, Central Jakarta, on Monday, 25 May 2026.

According to the master plan, Tito explained that the permanent recovery phase will be completed within three years, from 2026 to 2028. The Rp100 trillion-plus budget is divided across these three fiscal years.

“In 2026, the total is Rp38.9 trillion. For 2027, Rp32.9 trillion, and in 2028, Rp28.2 trillion. The total is approximately Rp100.1 trillion,” said the former Police Chief.
