Jakarta - Public use of the LRT Jabodebek during the weekday morning peak continues to show an increase. In June 2026, the average number of users tapping in between 06.00 and 09.00 WIB across 18 stations was recorded at 511 users per station each working day, an increase of approximately 12 per cent compared to the May 2026 average of 456 users. This condition reflects the rising morning mobility of people using the LRT Jabodebek, and simple habits of each user play an important role in smoothing the flow of boarding and alighting, as well as creating a more comfortable journey for all.
For this reason, LRT Jabodebek has shared a number of simple tips that users can apply when travelling during peak hours. Here are some tips for using the LRT Jabodebek during peak times:
Prepare your payment card and ensure the balance is topped up before arriving at the gate. Having your electronic money card or payment method ready before queuing at the gate will help speed up the entry and exit queues at the station.
Avoid carrying oversized items unless absolutely necessary. Ensure your belongings comply with the permitted rules and do not exceed the maximum dimensions of 100 x 40 x 30 centimetres. Additionally, large suitcases, cardboard boxes, or items requiring considerable space can restrict the movement of other users when the train is crowded. If you must carry them, users are advised to place items as close to the body as possible so as not to disturb other passengers’ movement.
Wear your backpack on your front when the train is full. Backpacks left on the back often unknowingly bump into other users and reduce space inside the carriage. Moving the backpack to the front of the body will make standing room more spacious.
Give priority to alighting passengers. Providing space for users exiting the train will speed up the passenger exchange process so that station stop times can be utilised optimally.
Do not stop right in front of the train door or escalator. After alighting from the train or finishing using the escalator, users should immediately move towards a more open area so as not to obstruct the flow of passengers behind.
Pay attention to the train arrival time. Users are advised to arrive at the station a few minutes early, especially during peak hours. Arriving too close to departure often causes users to rush, run to the platform, or attempt to board when the train doors are closing, which can potentially endanger their own safety and that of other users.
Manager of Public Relations for LRT Jabodebek, Radhitya Mardika, stated that journey comfort is determined not only by facilities, services, or operational reliability, but also by the readiness of users before entering the station, while inside the train, and until arriving at the destination station. “Simple things like preparing the payment card and ensuring the card balance before entering the gate, giving alighting passengers the opportunity to exit first, and placing luggage properly can help speed up the boarding and alighting process. If done together, the journey will feel more comfortable and orderly,” he said.
He added that small acts of discipline carried out by each user will have a major impact on overall journey comfort. “Public transport is a shared space. When every user respects one another by applying simple etiquette during the journey, the atmosphere inside the station and train becomes more orderly, safe, and comfortable for all,” Radhitya concluded.
