Tino Sidin's work on display

YOGYAKARTA: In a bid to commemorate as well as show appreciation for once-prominent artist Tino Sidin, coffee shop Ministry of Coffee, Jl. Prawirotaman, is running a 15-day exhibition of the late artist's sketches.

Opened on November 25, Tino Sidin's birthday, the exhibition will be officially closed on Dec. 9, 2004.

According to a release made available to The Jakarta Post on Thursday, the newly opened coffee shop is hoping that via the exhibition people will be reminded of the works of the great artist, whose name was very popular especially among school children.

Opened in August 2004, Ministry of Coffee is a coffee shop that is not just a place for meeting and relaxation but is also a community center as well as an educational zone.

As such, therefore, the coffee shop is also furnished with a library and puts on arts events.

An exhibition of Tino Sidin's sketches is its initial event, in which a painting competition for kindergarten and elementary school children, as well as for the public, is also being held to honor the late artist.

The exhibition is open every day from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. -- JP
