Tina Wiryawati Urges West Java MSMEs to Utilise MagangHub Programme

Micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in West Java are considered to need the MagangHub programme, which was launched by the government during President Prabowo Subianto’s administration. The programme is seen as a way for MSMEs to acquire educated young workers while simultaneously accelerating business development.

Tina Wiryawati, a member of the West Java Regional House of Representatives (DPRD) from the Gerindra Faction, stated that many MSME owners possess significant potential for growth. However, many are still hindered by a lack of manpower to manage various business requirements.

According to Tina, the presence of interns for a six-month period can assist with tasks that have not been maximally addressed, ranging from marketing and administration to social media management and product development.

“These MSMEs sometimes have established businesses and great products, but the management capacity is limited. With the presence of interns, they can assist with tasks that have not yet been completed,” Tina said on Tuesday (2nd September 2026).

She assessed that the programme presents a highly attractive opportunity for MSMEs because interns receive a stipend from the government during the programme.

This condition, she noted, allows MSME owners to obtain additional manpower without being burdened by the payment of intern stipends.

“The interns are paid by the government. Therefore, MSMEs can utilise educated labour to assist their businesses for six months,” she added.

Tina hopes that MSME owners do not view interns merely as additional labour. In her view, participants with specific educational backgrounds and skills could instead be encouraged to find new ways to make businesses more organised and scalable.

She cited an example of MSMEs that still rely on conventional sales methods; interns could assist in introducing marketing through digital platforms to broaden market reach.

“Do not just instruct them to help with daily tasks. If possible, interns should also be given the space to provide ideas and develop the business,” she said.

Tina hopes that more MSMEs in West Java will utilise the programme. Besides helping participants gain work experience, the internship programme is seen as a way to connect young talent with business owners who require support to grow.
