Tina Wiryawati Urges Acceleration of Merah Putih Cooperative Programme to Strengthen West Java's People's Economy
BANDUNG — Tina Wiryawati, a member of the West Java provincial legislature from the Gerindra faction, has urged the acceleration of the Merah Putih Cooperative programme across West Java.
The programme is considered an important instrument in strengthening the people’s economy, particularly for micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) and local businesses across various regions.
According to Tina, the cooperative, founded on nationalist principles, represents the tangible expression of mutual cooperation (gotong royong), a longstanding characteristic of the Indonesian nation. She therefore hopes the programme will be implemented more widely across various regions of West Java.
“The Merah Putih Cooperative is a tangible expression of our nation’s spirit of mutual cooperation. I hope its implementation is accelerated, particularly in areas with significant people’s economic potential,” Tina stated on Thursday, 12 March 2026.
She emphasised that cooperatives must serve as an instrument for building community economic independence. Through cooperatives, communities are expected to gain broader access to capital, marketing, and business capacity strengthening.
To this end, Tina called for synergy between regional government, business operators, and the community so that the Merah Putih Cooperative programme can operate sustainably and deliver tangible economic benefits to the community.
Additionally, she stressed that acceleration of the programme requires strong collaboration between provincial cooperative offices and cooperatives at the regency and city levels. Through such collaboration, coaching, mentoring, and capital strengthening for cooperatives can be implemented in a more targeted and equitable manner.
“Synergy between provincial cooperative offices and those at the regency and city levels is crucial for this programme to proceed faster and reach the right targets. With good collaboration, cooperatives can truly become the engine of the people’s economy in the regions,” she said.
She also emphasised that supporting disadvantaged communities must be the primary focus in regional development, including in economic policies adopted by government.
“Our goal in the legislature is to ensure people directly benefit from every policy. The welfare of West Java’s people is a shared commitment,” Tina stated.
Wiryawati also expressed her confidence in President Prabowo Subianto’s commitment to strengthening the people’s economy through cooperatives and MSMEs.
“President Prabowo deeply cares for the people. His commitment to strengthening cooperatives, MSMEs, and food security has been demonstrated for a long time,” she said.
She added that the Merah Putih Cooperative must continue to be monitored to ensure it achieves its targets and becomes a locomotive for inclusive and equitable people’s economic growth in West Java.
