Timorese refugees to get 58 tons of rice

KUPANG, East Nusa Tenggara: Some 5,000 East Timorese refugees
sheltering in Naibonat, Taupukan, and Noelbaki camps in East Nusa
Tenggara will receive a total of 58 tons of rice.

Social Affairs Office head Husein Pancratius said on Friday
that his office had given authority to the Timorese Refugees
Presidium to distribute the rice, which had been provided by the
central government and the provincial administration.

Erik Tavares of the presidium said that the rice would be
distributed to 5,000 families in the refugees camps in Naibonat,
Tuapukan and Noelbaki.

He also said that each family would receive up to seven
kilograms of rice while the families of civil servants, the
military as well as the police would not get any rice. --Antara
