Police have revealed the chronology of events in which a woman identified as DH (56) was murdered by her unregistered husband, with her remains discovered as little more than skeletal remains in Meruyung, Limo, Depok City, West Java. The pair’s marriage took place in December 2024.

“Then in mid-October 2025, the victim and suspect quarrelled, with the victim shouting and attempting to evict the suspect,” said AKBP Resa Fiardi, Deputy Director of the Robbery and Serious Crimes Division of the Metro Jaya Regional Police Command, to reporters on Tuesday (10 March 2026).

At that point, the suspect immediately covered the victim’s mouth with his right hand. The victim managed to resist by scratching the suspect.

“After that, the suspect then strangled the victim using his left hand until the victim became weak and helpless,” he stated.

The suspect then obtained a length of rope and tied it around the victim’s neck. The suspect then waited and observed the victim’s condition for approximately one hour.

“After the victim was no longer alive, the suspect immediately dragged the victim into the victim’s bedroom and covered the victim with a carpet,” he said.

Suspect and Victim Frequently Quarrelled

Previously, according to witness statements, the victim frequently became involved in disputes with her unregistered husband. Police also discovered evidence of alleged violence on the victim’s body.

“According to the statement of the neighbourhood head (RT) with initials SS, the victim and her unregistered husband had a history of domestic disputes in their household,” said Cinere Sector Police Chief Kompol Chairul Saleh to reporters on Monday (9 March).

When discovered, the victim’s body had been covered with coffee powder. “Upon identification examination, coffee powder was found sprinkled on the victim’s remains,” he said.
