Timeline of the Death of Intern Doctor Myta in Jambi According to the Ministry of Health
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The Ministry of Health has revealed the timeline of the death of Myta Aprilia Azmy, an intern doctor from the Faculty of Medicine at Sriwijaya University (Unsri), due to suspected overwork. In August 2025, Myta underwent a medical check-up (MCU) before starting her internship. The laboratory examination results indicated her condition was normal, meaning she was healthy. “From 11 August 2025 to 10 February 2026, MAA underwent internship at the Kuala Tungkal II Health Centre, and the individual was in good health,” stated the Acting Inspector General of the Ministry of Health, Rudi Supriatna Nata Saputra, during a press conference at the Ministry of Health office in South Jakarta on Thursday (7/5/2026). On 26 March 2026, Myta began complaining of feeling unwell with symptoms of fever, cough, and flu. Despite being ill, she continued working in the emergency department and self-medicated. “The individual self-medicated; these complaints persisted until 31 March 2026, with the condition still involving fever, cough, flu, and night shifts,” he said. On 11 April 2026, Myta was still on duty while suffering from cough, flu, and fever. On 13 April 2026, on her birthday, Myta received an infusion due to ongoing complaints. On 15 April 2026, Myta’s condition worsened further. She even contacted a fellow intern via voice note (VN). In the audio recording played by the Ministry of Health, Myta said she could not manage the morning shift schedule and asked her colleague to cover for her. “I can’t take it anymore, Astri,” Myta said to her colleague, as revealed by Rudi Supriatna Nata Saputra.
