The name of the Director General (Dirjen) of Customs, Djaka Budi Utama, has been drawn into the indictment by the Public Prosecutors (JPU) of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) regarding a bribery case for importing goods involving three leaders of Blueray Cargo.

The bribes were given to allow Blueray Cargo (Group)’s imported goods to exit the supervision process at the Customs section of the Directorate General of Customs more quickly. The indictment states that the bribes amounted to Rp 61,301,939,000 in SGD or Singapore dollars, along with entertainment facilities and luxury goods worth Rp 1,845,000,000.

In the trial, the prosecutors stated that initially in May 2025, John Field met and got acquainted with Rizal at a restaurant in Kelapa Gading, North Jakarta. Subsequently, in June 2025, Rizal introduced John Field to Sisprian and Orlando at the headquarters of the Directorate General of Customs, Rawamangun, East Jakarta. Only after that did the meeting with Djaka Budi Utama occur.

“Furthermore, in July 2025, at the Borobudur Hotel, Jalan Lapangan Banteng Selatan number 1, Pasar Baru, Sawah Besar, Central Jakarta. A meeting took place between officials of the Directorate General of Customs and Excise, including Djaka Budi Utama, Rizal, Sisprian Subiaksono, and Orlando Hamonangan Sianipar, with cargo entrepreneurs, including one of the attendees, Defendant I (John Field) from Blueray Cargo (Group),” said the prosecutor while reading the indictment, quoted from Detikcom.

However, after that, the name of Djaka Budi Utama is not mentioned again in the indictment. Nevertheless, following the meeting at the Borobudur Hotel, the prosecutors stated that there was a meeting in August 2025 between Orlando and John Field, with Fillar Marindra, the executor in the Subdirectorate of Intelligence of the Directorate of Enforcement and Investigation of the Directorate General of Customs, also present.

“In that meeting, Defendant I conveyed to Orlando regarding the condition of Blueray Cargo (Group)’s imported goods shipments entering the red channel and being subject to dwelling time,” said the prosecutor.

According to the Prosecutor, after that meeting, collusion occurred where Blueray Cargo officials gave bribes to Directorate General of Customs officials so that their imported goods could pass through the process easily. The prosecutors stated that the bribe-giving was gradual from July 2025 to January 2026.

The trial took place at the Jakarta Corruption Court on Wednesday (6/5/2026), where KPK prosecutors indicted three Blueray Cargo leaders, namely:

  1. John Field as Leader of Blueray Cargo (Group)

  2. Dedy Kurniawan Sukolo as Operational Manager of Customs Clearance at the Port for Blueray Cargo (Group)

  3. Andri as Head of the Import Documents Team for Blueray Cargo (Group).

The three are indicted for giving bribes to Customs officials, namely:

  1. Rizal as Director of Enforcement and Investigation of the Directorate General of Customs from September 2024 to January 2026

  2. Sisprian Subiaksono as Head of Subdirectorate of Intelligence of the Directorate of Enforcement and Investigation of the Directorate General of Customs

  3. Orlando Hamonangan Sianipar as Head of Customs Intelligence Section I of the Directorate of Enforcement and Investigation of the Directorate General of Customs

Response from Purbaya

Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa has assured that he will not yet suspend Director General of Customs and Excise (DJBC) Djaka Budi Utama from his position due to his implication in the bribery case involving Blueray Cargo leader John Field. He said he would still look further into the case.

“Yes, we’ll see later. We’ll see what the legal process is like,” said Purbaya after the Debottlenecking Hearing at the Ministry of Finance office, Central Jakarta, on Thursday (7/5).

Purbaya will not suspend or deactivate Djaka until his involvement in the case is clearer.

“No (suspended temporarily or deactivated) until it’s clear what it is there. The process is just starting, the name has just emerged, how can we stop immediately? We’ll see until it’s clear, as clear as what the case is, then we’ll take action,” emphasised Purbaya.
