Timeline of the Bibi Kelinci Case: CCTV Upload Leads to Owner Being Named a Suspect
Nabilah O’Brien, owner of Bibi Kelinci Kemang in South Jakarta, has been named a suspect in a defamation case by the Indonesian Police’s Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim Polri). She was reported by a husband-and-wife pair identified by the initials ZK and ERS. The report was made after Nabilah posted a CCTV video showing the couple’s outburst in her restaurant to social media.
In return, Nabilah also reported ZK and ERS to the Mampang Police Station for allegedly fleeing without paying for the meals they had ordered. ZK and ERS have since been named suspects as well.
The incident began when ERS and ZK visited the Bibi Kelinci restaurant and ordered 14 dishes to take away, on Friday 19 September 2025. That night the restaurant was crowded and online orders continued to pour in without respite.
Because they waited for a long time, ERS and ZK became upset. Initially they only voiced verbal protests.
However, they later entered the kitchen area, which is restricted to staff. There, ZK struck one of the staff and the refrigerator.
They also shouted abuse at the staff. When the order was finally completed, they left without further incident.
“Restricted means it is prohibited, right. And it sparked a disturbance. Based on CCTV footage, Z and E are seen striking the right arm of our head of kitchen and the chiller while threatening to wreak havoc on this place,” said Nabilah’s lawyer, Goldie Natasya Swarovzki, at a press conference on Friday (6 March 2026).
One of the staff briefly chased them outside the restaurant carrying an electronic payment terminal (EDC), but they ignored it.
Thereafter, the staff reported the incident to Nabilah, who was out of town at the time. Once the CCTV footage was in hand, Nabilah posted the video to her Instagram account.
Netizens then identified the individuals as ZK and ERS. Nabilah subsequently issued a cease-and-desist letter to them.
Police at the time planned to summons them for clarification. However, ZK and ERS pre-empted this by sending a counter-demand letter to Nabilah.
Nabilah was asked to apologise for disseminating false information on social media and the mass media. In addition, she was asked to pay damages of Rp 1 billion. This request was not answered by Nabilah.
